We offer a range of specialised dental treatments to patients throughout Northland and beyond.
Why would you choose a specialist prosthodontist to do your treatment 🤔
General dentists who offer denture, crown / bridge and implant treatments will usually have undergone less formal training, often having less experience than a specialist prosthodontist. They are usually limited to using more simple techniques, not being aware of advanced procedures used by specialist prosthodontists. They also sometimes are not able to diagnose those patients with more difficult mouths before commencing treatment. Owing to specialist prosthodontists intensive training, they are in the best position to fully diagnose, plan and advise on appropriate treatment and use various implant techniques underpinned by scientific evidence, research and experience. In addition, specialist prosthodontists can therefore also treat both simple and more complex or challenging denture, crown / bridge and implant patients. Prosthodontists also work with more experienced dental technicians (who do their laboratory work) and dental surgery assistants (often working on the best cosmetic outcome) which means the “team” treating you is the best than can be provided. This is certainly the case at Northland Prosthodontics !!!
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is surgically anchored into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge in place. An implant denture is a type of denture that is supported by and attached to implants.
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and the tissues connected to those teeth. Complete dentures replace all of the teeth, while partial dentures fill in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevent other teeth from shifting position. An implant denture is a type of denture that is supported by and attached to implants.
Bridges restore your smile and the ability to properly chew and speak. They maintain the shape of your face and distribute the forces in your bite properly by replacing missing teeth. A regular dental bridge is made up of two crowns one on each tooth on either side of the gap in your teeth whereas an implant bridge is supported by implants.
There are many techniques and options to treat teeth that are discoloured, chipped, misshapen or missing. Your dentist can reshape your teeth, close spaces, restore worn or short teeth or alter the length of your teeth. Common procedures include bleaching, bonding, crowns, veneers and reshaping and contouring. More about cosmetic dentistry treatments…
